It is important that we don’t put expectations on our Service Dogs that are unreasonable. The above tasks represent what a Seizure Alert Service Dog is capable of performing. Certified Service Dogs are trained for children and adults with medical afflictions such as Diabetes, PTSD, Seizures and Autism and medical needs of each person. But, that’s what you’ll see when you turn the pages of Northern Guilford High School’s 2016 yearbook. The dog must perceive something happening now and be able to associate a pattern of something else following in about 20 minutes (on average). and give them full service dog rights legally with proper documentation from said trainers. An inaugural visit to the vet (with regular checkups) is important: health conditions like arthritis and diabetes put an undue strain on the best of pets, so adding service animal responsibilities is unwise.
Of course, it’s nearly impossible to do this perfectly. They are usually easy to train. Elizabeth
