Five or six slices of rye bread provide over 25 grams of fibre, equivalent to an adult’s recommended daily intake. All we can do, in this situation, is highlight the lack of scientific validity of these sorts of ideas. It means a loaf can be baked in just one hour, and also has a longer shelf life — as a result 76 per cent of the bread we eat today is made this way.
