Osteoporosis in Men with Diabetes Mellitus

BACKGROUND: The objective of the study was to investigate the hypothalamo-pituitary–testicular axis and sperm structure at the transmission electron microscope (TEM) level in men affected by insulin-dependent diabetes. Erectile failure occurs in at least 50% of all diabetic men and affects 55% of those aged over 60 years. Free testosterone was measured by equilibrium dialysis. Using data from the US National Social Life, Health and Aging Project, Liu and colleagues analysed survey results from 1,228 married respondents over five years. She and her colleagues conducted a meta-analysis of all studies examining sex-specific estimates of mortality for men and women associated with type 1 diabetes spanning the last five decades (from January 1966 to November 2014). Risks of diabetes increased with increased BMI, age and wealth status of both women and men, but no effects of the consumption of milk/curd, vegetables, eggs, television watching, alcohol consumption or smoking were found

The Charcot joint, named after a famous French physician, is also called neuropathic joint disease. Having just returned from an International Consensus Conference in Paris dealing with this entity, and having visited the Charcot Library at La Salpetriere, I feel compelled to discuss its etiology and diagnosis in a little more depth than most readers might be familiar with. The most frequently cited cause of Charcot arthropathy of the upper extremity is syringomyelia, and magnetic resonance imaging of the cervical spine should be obtained at presentation. Ulterior s-a arătat că boala apare drept complicație și a altor maladii, factorul comun care le leagă însă pe toate, fiind polineuropatia periferică. Calcaneal inclination (pitch) angle is typically 18 to 22 degree [21]. This condition may cause the foot or ankle to become warm, red, or swollen, and even to change shape. These data suggest a failure of RAGE defense mechanisms against oxidative stress in diabetes.
